PAUL MCCARTHY (b.1945)

McCarthy’s dark, absurdist installations and performances challenge norms around politics, sexuality, and mass culture. Working with latex, video, and oversized sculptures, he exposes the grotesque in the everyday. Often controversial, his work is held at MoMA, the Hammer Museum, and Moderna Museet in Stockholm.

"Humor is a survival strategy—and it’s not always pretty."
