LUCIO FONTANA (1899–1968)

Fontana pioneered Spatialism by slashing and piercing his canvases, transforming painting into sculptural space. His “Concetto Spaziale” series opened art to new dimensions and redefined surface, gesture, and void. His work is held in MoMA, Tate, and Museo del Novecento.

"I have invented a formula that, I believe, is entirely new."
