ROBERT INDIANA (1928–2018)

A lesser-known but influential Surrealist from the Canary Islands, Domínguez experimented with techniques like “decalcomania” to evoke rich, textural dreamscapes. His work oscillated between violence and beauty, abstraction and figuration. His legacy is preserved in the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Centre Pompidou, and Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (TEA).

"I paint as a volcanic island dreams—unexpectedly and in spurts."
