CARMEN HERRERA (1915–2022)
A pioneer of geometric abstraction, Herrera’s minimalist canvases of bold color and sharp form went largely unrecognized until her 90s. Her disciplined style expresses clarity, balance, and precision rooted in Latin American modernism. Her work is in the Whitney, MoMA, and LACMA.

"I do it because I have to do it; it’s a compulsion that also gives me pleasure."
